The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., is encouraging readers to participate in eBook Reading Week March 6-12.
Created in 2004 by reader and author Rita Towes, this week promotes the benefits of e-books and encourages book lovers to try them. It is also an opportunity to promote writers and their works.
Celebrate eBook Reading Week by browsing the library’s eBook collection, checking one out, and trying out eBooks.
To access eBooks through Libby, visit https://libbyapp.com/library/ebranch2go or select “Online Resources” on the library’s website at jvbrown.edu. There you will also see a link for hoopla, where Brown Library customers can download books, music, movies and more through https://www.hoopladigital.com.
“These sites are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to reader requests,” said Sue Mayshock, audiovisual specialist at the Brown Library. “We want customers to visit us, but they can choose to download a bestseller to their device and enjoy the electronic version without leaving home.”
Mayshock also offers technology support with your device by appointment at the Brown Library by calling 570-326-0536.
Share what you read using the social media hashtags #JVBLreads and #e-bookLove.
This is one of the many ways the library supports the PA Forward initiative by providing information literacy learning opportunities. When Pennsylvania residents know how to use today’s technology to improve their education and develop their skills, they can fully participate in a digital society. The Brown Library is part of a national effort to raise awareness of the changing role of libraries and how libraries are transforming to meet the digital and technological information needs of their users.
The James V. Brown Library is open for browsing and pick-up 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. To reserve, visit www.jvbrown.edu or call 570-326-0536 during library hours. The library is also open for the use of public computers and for services such as printing, faxing, copying and scanning. Walk-in passport services are available. The James V. Brown Library is PA Library of the Year 2021.
